There is no wonder that in this household, we love to eat pasta. It really doesn't matter the shape of the pasta or the sauce. We love them all, from fast and easy recipes such as the Umami Tortellini to more complicated ones like our Double Trouble Ravioli.
Today, I want to talk to you about a dish that uses spaghetti and tuna steaks. I used frozen steaks, which I defrosted. However, if you want to use fresh tuna, go ahead and do it. But please don't use canned tuna.
This being said, let's make this spicy tuna spaghetti.
- Even though you will start with the sauce, I strongly suggest you put a big pot of salty water to boil.
- Peel and finely chop the onion. In a skillet, heat up the olive oil and start cooking the onion along with the dried chili on medium heat. Cook it until translucent and soft for about 4-5 minutes.
- While this happens, cut your tuna steaks into 1 cm chunks. Transfer them into the skillet and cook them for 3-4 minutes, stirring from time to time. Add the capers and mix well to combine.
- Cut the cherry tomatoes into halves and place them in the skillet. Let everything cook for additional 5 minutes on medium heat.
- Chop the parsley, add it to the pan, season with salt and pepper, stir and then take it off the heat.
- Cook the spaghetti for 3 minutes less than what the package instructions state. Transfer them to the pan and carefully stir to combine.
- Turn on the stove again and place the skillet on low heat. Cook the pasta with the sauce for 2-3 minutes, then take off the heat. Sprinkle the chopped green onion all over the pan.
- Serve immediately with extra freshly ground pepper.
And this is everything you have to do to prepare these delicious tuna fish spaghetti. Now, let's take a look at the wiki facts.
Even though the first record of the first pasta type goes all the way back to the 5th century AD, spaghetti won its popularity in Italy only in the 19th century. After that, it was just a matter of time to become famous all over the world.
* The most popular spaghetti recipe probably is Spaghetti Bolognese. If you want to give it a try, I might suggest you check out our Bolognese sauce and replace the tagliatelle with spaghetti.
